People are jumping on the Tim Urban train left and right thanks to us and our love for Timmy. Now USA Today's Idol Chatter is on board too. They love how Tim puts the judges in their places just like we do.
The judges, ostensibly, exist on the show to guide the contestants to better performances. But as Lil Rounds and, oh, just about anybody this season can attest, their advice is often confusing, even nonsensical. Sometimes, their comments are little more than displays of ego or thinly disguised bullying.
In the past, faced with the judges' withering assessments, contestants have tried explaining themselves. They've tried defending themselves. They've pleaded, they've cried, they've bristled. A few have even dared to talk back. None of it has helped, not with the judges and not with the audience.
Tim has their number. He just stands there, absorbing the worst punishment Simon and his gang can throw at him. Then, unbowed and unbloodied, he smiles, thanks them kindly and lets them know how very much he appreciates their input.
Wednesday, in a display of condescension that rivaled anything Simon has ever shown, Kara began talking about Tim in the third person, as though he were a small child with a severe learning disability: "I don't think he even understands, maybe, what we're saying."
But Tim understood her perfectly, he just wasn't going to let her get to him. "I get what you're saying," he responded with, naturally, a smile. (This roughly translates from the language of mama-raised-her-boy-right as "I'm not stupid, you arrogant twit.")
And then he laid the smackdown on her. In the kindest way possible, of course.
Couldn't have said it better ourselves. We love how Tim has the judges' numbers, especially that miserable bitch Kara. Off with her head!
