Megan JoyWe're teaming with AOL Television to name the 12 worst 'American Idol' semifinalists ever. We'll be posting one finalist each week. Check back next Tuesday for AOL's pick at #8.

Name: Megan Joy
Season: 8
Worst Performance: 'Rockin Robin'
Why We Loved Her (But Everyone Else Hated Her): Megan Joy started off her audition as one of Simon's favorite vocalists. But somewhere along the line, Megan either got tired of the show or just wanted to do whatever she wanted to do. This made her the highlight of the finals of season 8. After a disappointing semifinal round where Tatiana Del Toro, Nick Mitchell, Alex Wagner-Trugman, and Jackie Tohn didn't make it into the top 13, we though all hope was lost for this season's entertainment. Luckily for VFTW, Megan Joy delivered in a big way.

Once Megan hit the top 13, she made her mark early on to become a VFTW favorite. Her first performance during Michael Jackson week was an awesome take on "Rockin Robin" that ended with a "CAW CAW". After a night filled with so much medicority, Megan's cawing stood out as a VFTW barrle cry and immediately earned our love.

Megan then turned out a decent performance of "Walkin After Midnight" the following week to ensure herself a spot on the tour. Smart move. She still inserted her quirkiness, but made sure to emphasize that she was sick so that people would give her some sympathy votes. The following week, Megan picked "For Once In My Life" and the judges shot her down once more.

Randy called it a train wreck and bizarre, Kara hated her song choice again, and Simon said the performance was horrible and she could be in serious trouble. Megan brushed off the insults and told America to call for her, slapping the judges in the face for their unimportant comments. Luckily, VFTW pulled through and helped Megan make it into the top 9.

When Megan hit the top 9, she really went all out with "Turn Your Lights Down Low".

You could tell Megan wanted to let loose even more with her performance. But thankfully, her brother C.J. helped her out. When Kara started to criticize Megan for her song choice yet again, C.J. yelled out "BROKEN RECORD" from the audience, a comment that pissed Kara off to no end. Kara actually confronted C.J. about it and he mocked her more. Oh Megan's family, we love you.

Unfortunately that week, Megan Joy was in the bottom 3. But instead of getting upset about it, here's what she did:

Megan continued to CAW her way into our hearts with that one. She knew if she was going down, she might as well have as much fun as possible before it happened. She continued to make mock surprised faces throughout the entire elimination ceremony and told Simon Cowell that she didn't care what he had to say at all. And thus, we all got to finally see Megan finally embrace the totality of her Worster spirit. Unfortunately, that also meant she was going home because she got the least votes that week. Simon told her that the judges wouldn't even bother considering using the save on her, so she might as well enjoy her last performance. And that she did, again going all out and performing just the way we loved her with her best performance outside of the voting nights.

We loved Megan Joy for just having fun with Idol and not giving a shit when she was eliminated; taking the time instead to enjoy herself and the fact that she made it as far as she did. She'll always be the Blessed Songbird of VFTW, and this tribute video made by a fan perfectly sums up what an awesome chick she is.

Check back next Tuesday for AOL's pick at #8.

Oh, she emphasized more than that! O_O

The Joy of Megan. Here's hoping she gets all sorts of crazy-popular.

She was likable and endearing in a season infested with douchebags (Gokey) and douchebaguettes (Madam, Alexxxis).

Meagan was by far my all time favorite... funist season ever because of her. I just wish we could have kept her in longer to keep the rest of it interesting.

I heart Megan...

Unfortunately, after Megan was sent home the producers instituted a new rule stipulating that no female contestants would ever be allowed on Idol if they were attractive or had a sense of humor.

One of my all time favorites.

Her quirkiness was the best.

She just needed to work on her voice a little.

It took me a while to warm up to Megan, but she won me over with that Bob Marley cover. She actually seemed to have something to say other than robotic pre-written responses. Megan's elimination episode was as good as Tim laughing at the judges. She was great, had an amazing sense of humor, and was entertaining on and off stage. We miss you, Megan!
