Worst 'American Idol' Finalists ever- #8: Mikalah Gordon

We're teaming with AOL Television to name the 12 worst 'American Idol' semifinalists ever. We'll be posting one finalist each week. Check back next Tuesday for our pick at #7.

AOL Television and Vote for the Worst bring you the 12 Worst Finalists in American Idol history. Other people may have hated them, but Vote for the Worst loves these misunderstood geniuses for the entertainment value they brought to American Idol. So their "worst" is our "best", and we're gonna tell you why.

Check out #8: Mikalah Gordon at AOL Television today. Mikalah was a VFTW pick that we knew would be awesome from day one. Her loud personality and unwavering quest for attention made us fall in love with her quickly. Her performances and insistence on taking Simon Cowell to her prom only made us love her more. Like a mini Fran Drescher, Mikalah owned the stage with her presence and sense of humor, even as a teenager. (Who else would wear a shirt that said "My job is to annoy you?") Unfortunately, VFTW could only help Mikalah to 11th place, where the rest of America decided that they'd had enough due to Mikalah's inconsistent vocals. But we'll always hold a special place in our heart for her because she did the one thing that VFTW loves: she entertained us.

We'll be switching back and forth to get the entire list of 12 up. Our pick for #7 will be posted next Tuesday.

No joke, I actually liked her voice. She just choked big time in the live shows. I do agree she was a better comedienne than a singer and really do hope she can find a career in the entertainment industry. Just not on live TV. She's a bit too unpredictable for that, yes? Silent (not so silent?) eff bombs make for great TV as long as the media glosses over it the next day. At least she spoke out against the "right after the break" nonsense, though.

I thought she has a great voice, just not inexperienced at all to know what's she good at back then.

LOL. Word. I loved her. Especially when it broke that she was working in this slutty Vegas oxygen bar.

My mom is friends (or used to be anyway) with the Gordan family and apparently Mikalah is a hoot!

Still one of my fave contestants ever. I still remember being gobsmacked at how utterly terrible her Love Will Lead You Back was. So disappointed she didn't hang around longer.

The best was when she tried to be Barbara Streisand . i think it was the way we were she tried to sing ? now that kids was a VFTW classic !

I don't get the Yenta reference.

Mikalah Gordon was raised Catholic and went to Catholic School. Her mother is Italian American and her father is Italian and Jewish. She was born and raised in Las Vegas, not exactly the center of Jewish culture.

What's with the Yenta reference? I don't get it.
