AOL Television and Vote for the Worst bring you the 12 Worst Finalists in American Idol history. Other people may have hated them, but Vote for the Worst loves these misunderstood geniuses for the entertainment value they brought to American Idol. So their "worst" is our "best", and we're gonna tell you why.
Check out #6: Kevin Covais at AOL Television today. Kevin Covais, dubbed Chicken Little by VFTW (and then stolen by the Idol finalists who clearly read VFTW), was a memorable pick for us back in season 5. After tepid renditions of songs like "Vinthent" and "One Lath Cry" (he had a lithp...), he proceeded to fly through to the top 12 on his fish out of water persona. He thanked VFTW for our support by singing the hilarious "Part Time Lover". The performance sealed his fate as a VFTW favorite but also as a contestant that America hated. He lasted one more week and went home in 11th place.
We'll be switching back and forth to get the entire list of 12 up. Our pick for #7 will be posted next Tuesday.

It's hard for me to think of any VFTW contestant I love more than Kevin. The only two I can think of that come even close are Scott Savol and Megan Joy (yes, Tim is not in my top 3, maybe 5 or 6, but not 3). But Kevin beats even them.

Haha...it must have been the following fall that he came to sing at opening night at one of our local hockey games (it's an AHL team, one level below NHL). No one even knew who he was, but they made all of this fanfare like it was a big deal, but most people didn't even bother to come to their seats. I, like a true Worster, stayed and suffered through the whole thing. He sang some James Taylor song with his crazy lisp and danced siezure dance moves on the ice. It was pretty desperate...on both ends...and sort of sad to watch. Alas...he was never to be heard from again in these parts....
