Aaron Kelly Says The Idols Get Very Small Song Lists and Idol Changed the Key to One of His Songs

Who knew Aaron Kelly would be the contestant to speak out against the behind-the-scenes machinations at Idol? Nice work, Twink Frau Bait! Aaron Kelly's Idolatry interview with Entertainment Weekly has some very interesting information about how rigged Idol is. First off, Aaron says the songs lists on iTunes are way longer than what the Idols get to choose from. He says they sometimes have to choose from 12 songs. Aaron also says that Idol edited his Hollywood video to make it look as if he forgot his lyrics when he didn't and that they changed they key to his song before he performed without telling him. Well hey, good on you, Aaron. But isn't it a little early to call out Idol before they give you that summer paycheck for the tour? Either way, thanks for the info!

It figures. Good on Aaron for speaking up. They'll probably be more dirt coming before the tour's over with. You know that the local media in every town is going to ask them about their experiences on the show.

Well, Aaron came in with a golden ticket so he didn't see the AI BS before Hollywood week. By that time, he was looking around at the competition and was feeling pretty good about his chances. By the time the Hollywood Week clip aired, he was on his way to LA for the voting rounds. Then reality starts setting in - he has the male light country / pop crossover niche to himself; but, between the weird theme weeks and the conflicting judges' comments, he isn't hitting a groove. Then he finishes a couple spots higher than he should personality-wise but a slot or two lower than he could talent-wise (relative to the others not in an absolute sense!) Then he finds out the recording contract 'carrot' that has been dangling there is actually an empty orange bottle of Simon's spray on tan. And the tour is actually a hell on wheels where he will come out to a cold audience that is there to see somebody else, sing two songs that the producers have chosen, dance a group lip-sync with 5 other wanna-be's then sit back stage for an hour before having to run the gauntlet of the fraus. He could either kill himself or grow a pair. Fortunately for our amusement, he grew a pair. Before the tour, he will have to go to k d lang's tailor and get his pants altered to make room for them.

They only started releasing the Bullshit song-lists after a real, (and much shorter) song list was leaked showing that they haven't freshened-up the material much, or at all, in 9 years. Changing the Key at the last minute is Heinous, unless you are a Pro and know the song intimately. But, then they do all these things to induce poor performances and fake drama for the Fodder.

It is doubly funny that Ricky Minor has charts for 5000 songs but the Idol contestants are given song lists with 12 songs to pick from.

The worst part is that if they chose the same song the producers get mad.. That's what Siobhan said.. They want everyone to suck

Go Aaron! Out those SOB's!

Since I had nothing better to do with so few new worster comments to read, I scrolled back to the early pages (2006) and scanned some of the mods' comments over the years. They mentioned how contestants said they auditioned 2-3 times over more than a day, and that different footage would sometimes be spliced together. So, for example, Simon would appear to give a comment that he never actually made during the audition.

Whistleblower Aaron is another VFTW Victory

Nah. If Idol finked out on his contract, he'd be released, and he'd make a hell of a lot more money from a tell-all book than he'd make from the tour.

I was prescient. I knew that kid was awesome. First, Arcadian Broad from America's Got Talent, and now Aaron Kelly. Leave it to the kids to have the balls to disclose the bullshit that the frauen are deaf and blind to.

I've not sure if Aaron has balls, or if he's not thinking. That being said, keep the behind the scenes dirt coming!

I've often wondered how their confidentiality/non-disclosure statements are written into the contract and whether saying things like this will get them dropped by 19E. If so, all the ones who want to be rid of the 19E shackles should follow Aaron's lead. That would be fantastic!
