American Idol Claims It Never Used AutoTune Like X Factor Did

American Idol producers are claiming that they have never used AutoTune in the production of their show, unlike X Factor which recently admitted it does use AutoTune. Bullshit. So the above performance, which is clearly AutoTuned, is just a coincidence? They're clearly lying. It's probably all an issue of semantics... like they never used "AutoTune", but they used a different pitch correcting program with a similar name.

That's just like when they say that the results are based on the "viewer vote," while they mean that those who are watching are producers who also happen to vote the show (most likely, by a contractual obligation).

I think they use a program called Slaughter Tune. This shit is so obviously lip-synced from a super processed recording from the studio. Plus, these idiots can't even lip-sync convincingly. Fail! Laugh

I only remembered about 5 of these loser's names. Ryan

Group songs have to go into a different pile (of shit) from the competition performances. I think it is a foregone conclusion that many of the guest appearances (that aren't lip synced) use Autotune. The contestant's iTunes downloads are obviously heavily processed, so the producers are weaseling if not lying when they say AutoTune is not used.

I love that the guys all sound like one voice the whole entire time even when they sing in twos, and that the girls all sound like they're robots, and also Tim Urban's voice for his solo was three times lower than his actual voice. Fucking lying bastards.

i donno.. I don't think they autotune or whatever to the regular performances cuz if that was the case why was Lee Dewyze like out of tune every performance he was in? If they wanted him to win or be a front runner you would think that they would of autotuned his voice... so meh not sure

^ I agree for the solo performances. Almost every "pro" that has taken that awful stage has sounded like a dying douchenozzle. I think they let all the singers really sing for the solos and contestant duets, but they fuck with the band, the key of the song, sound mixing and back-up singers to sabotage whomever is on their shit list for that week.

The group numbers don't even sound like human voices and they all look like fools pretending that's really them singing live. I'm sure their slaughter tune usage is heavy in the studio recordings if they can get that talentless, ugly hack, Lee, to sound like he is on pitch. Randy

teal dear summary: They are musical bastards!

Good god that was cringesome! Somewhere near the end, Lilly Scott "sings" the line "Let's spend it up" and it doesn't even sound like her. So, Auto-tuned definitely.

I agree with most of the above posts. Except for the very naive, it has been obvious for several years that the group singing is a lip synced supercomputer processed crapfest. I mean every week of every year the group singing sounds exactly like “The Brady Kids” - regardless of who is in the group or how large the group is.

Now in regards to the competition (have to use that word lightly in regards to AI) part: I have often wondered if they don’t employ a moon landing scheme. Instead of showing a “live” feed of the contestant, instead they use a recording of a prior best-of taped performance. Ever notice that sometimes they will scan the audience a lot for singer #1; but then singer #2’s set is only stage shots. Just wondering...

In summary: there are a lot of ways to manipulate the show besides autotune. (Maybe AI should patent wah-tune – the process in which they turn a boring untalented person into a lead contestant by altering and amplifying their sob story).

Everybody knows the Group Numbers are a farce. Lip-synced, pre-recorded, auotuned... among other things. The iTunes downloads are processed too.

That said, I think the Idol ringleaders are sincere in saying the performances that are part of the competition aren't autotuned. That's what they were implying, is it not?
