Lee DeWyze Has the Lowest First Week Sales of Any American Idol Winner or Runner Up

In what should be obvious to anyone with a brain, Lee DeWyze barely sold any albums this week. His debut album, Live It Up, came in with 39,000 sold according to USA Today. That's less than half of what Kris Allen, the previous low end record holder for the winners, sold last year. Even fucking Justin Guarini from season 1 sold more albums than Lee in his first week. This is truly getting pathetic. A 5 month long advertisement for one person's album can only manage to sell 39k albums, even with millions and millions of people watching? Unless the show produces a megastar this year, looks for cancellation right around the corner.

Is anybody shocked by this? A mediocre cd coming from an American Idol winner isn't going to sell very well.

This isn't surprising at all. I dont think anyone in last year's Top 10 would have done any better. I guess you can make a case and say maybe Crystal, but I don't believe she would have even reached Kris Allen's sales.

This is probably the reason why Simon bailed. He knew talent wise the show was hitting rock bottom.

Don't be surprised if next years winner even has less sales than Lee.

This was bound to happen. With the attention focused on Simon leaving, new judges, and all the changes to next season, Lee was brushed aside. Unless the winner releases an album the day after he/she wins... this will continue to happen. Except for Lee because he sucks and he can't sing and he's boring.
