Paul McDonald lowered the bar for vocals this week and still kept up his entertaining game with his "I Guess That's Why You Call it the Blues" performance. The drunken rambling, the ridiculously raspy vocals, and his "what the fuck did I just do" shrug after the performance was over... We certainly made the right pick last week and we need to continue supporting Paul for as long as we can have him. If he keeps singing like this, it won't be long! So dial 1-866-436-5702, text VOTE to 5702 if you have AT&T, and vote online at americanidol.com. Because if Paul can keep delivering like this, we have to get him to the finale. Also adding- Great work, Casey Abrams! Keep picking song like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and performing them like that and you will most certainly be our pick if Paul goes home. Awesome job.

Living on the West Coast I haven't yet seen tonight's AI but was able to watch Paul on youtube already. OMG, he's the MAN made for Worster. What a horrible rendition of the Elton John song. And, his childish bouncing around on stage made me laugh out loud. But, what's more amazing is the sheep audience waving its arms acting like this was some great performance. And, to make it worse, J-Lo was singing along with Paul. WTF? Paul deserves our votes!

Typo in the message 866 vs 966.

Gotta be careful.

BTW -- thought Paul would have a hard time topping Naima. I was wrong.

Paul should certainly get the vote this week although he had a LOT of competition IMHFO. Squinty McGinty ...err James was pretty awful, Karen was elevator eh... Pia was nowhere near her best, Jacob was not even close and Haley was incoherent (and looked like she put her lipstick on in a moving subway car.) Speaking of which the judges looked like shit tonight too, with J-Lo's hair appearing to have been done with Van de Graaff generator and a pitchfork.

Surprising talent this week was Lauren (the flu killed her voice but amp'd up her performance, I felt), Naima was a nice warm-up for the evening, giving a good performance. Thia was a bit timid (and forgettable...again) but is probably safe. However, she will need to start bringing it or she will be swallowed whole by the older women (you can order that on PPV 39.95 in advance 44.95 day of...) Scotty (some country writers will get real rich if he wins AI) and (gag me!) Stefano (Gawd..why does he remind me of Matt LeBlanc?!?!) had the best performance of the night. As for Casey, I am going to cut him a bit of slack for picking a shitty song that no one can be judged on (it's a fucking screamfest originally sung by a drugged-out narcissist who had no sense of...well you get my opinion of the song and the band so...NISM (need I say more) The song was dubbed an "anthem for apathetic kids" of Generation X according to Wikipedia. It was something designed to keep him safe for the week as he recovered from his Crohn's attack. Anyway...I liked Weird Al's version better...

BTW, Paul was born in 1984 but the song "I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues" was on the album "Too Low For Zero" in 1983. It was released as a US single in October 1983. So, it's really iffy saying this is from his year of birth. But, it provided a great worster moment. So, c'est la vie.
