The Theme for the Top 5 is Now and Then

The top 5 will have to tackle the theme Now and Then next week - they need to sing a current song as well as a song from the 1960s. We've been suggesting it for weeks, but "Trapped in the Closet" is hopefully current enough for Jacob to tackle it this week. If you have any song suggestions for new VFTW pick Jacob, leave them in the comments.

I hate whenever they have a theme like "current songs on the charts" and then the singers somehow pick a song that was popular 30 years ago. I'm sure Stanky will somehow get away with picking some Aretha song as usual.

I think the 60s song is probably going to be "A Change is Gonna Come". Producers love getting black folks to sing stuff that reminds them of the good old days when they used to own them. People think it is all socially conscious and all that ... but really it just makes rich white folks teary eyed and nostalgic.


I can't think of ANY current songs that Lady Lusk could possibly sing. Not since she considered Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get it On" too risque. I'm trying to think of any R&B song that would be Christian enough for her and I'm drawing a blank. It would be EPIC, though, if she did Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" -- and just imagine the outfit for that one!


What they need is a theme week where fans vote for the songs that the contestants have to sing. Then it could be a whole show filled with VFTW magic.
