Simon, You were sorely missed on American Idol this year. We just had to imagine the feedback you would have provided to this particularly lame group of contestants. The "judging" was equally lame, often devolving into a moronic love fest. Listen to these guys. You may think of them merely as "flies buzzing around cow shit", but they do know what they're talking about. Cheers, Scott

sadly, i think you're wrong. this is exactly the crap that does work. it might turn off you specifically, worsters in general - but the rest of america? this is going to be a bigger hit than it deserves to be, just like american idol.

With enough money made from past success, you can create any kind of circus you want, get it on prime time and you'll get an audience. Simon knows the formula.
There are throngs of people who want to be a Pop/Rock Star, so you can get masses of people to wait days to get an audition to be on a T.V. show. You have them sign a contract, just to audition, where they give-away any rights to monitor what is shown - - if you fall downstairs or piss your pants, they can show that clip for 50 years if they want to.
Future profits from songwriting or recording are mostly commissioned to your show producers, if you reach a certain level. If you never made a thousand bucks before in the music business, you don't realize that if you make a million in the next 2 years, you'll get about 1/3 of it.
AI is a high-cost operation, that produces big money in advertising dollars and reaps a fortune in ITune downloads, memorabilia, etc., etc. They will Pimp Scotty and some others for the next year and into another album if the first is successful. That makes them money.

Quote : We've started to ignore all X-Factor news stories because so many have been uninteresting and obnoxious. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's tuned out. All the drama/hype has gotten so tedious.

It is tedious, but if it's not intended for peeps like us, it's intended for sheeple who read TMZ and Entertainment Weekly, watch E! and believe everything they read or see is true. For them, this kind of thing is like cat-nip.

If Simon was around in Season 10, Scotty would've been eliminated before the finale. Sure... His looks and McCreepy low voice would've gotten him votes, but we KNOW how (1) Simon hates country music and (2) Simon hates it when a contestant is a complete one note.
Oh - and... America listens to Simon.

But without the hype it's just a talent show isn't it? The whole point is to make a drama out of nothing. Cheryl cole here actually made front page headlines here in the UK for being fired/left the american X-factor and not rejoining the british x-factor. I agree it's tedious and serves the daily tabloid newspapers that the UK has. Other than New York which has a tabloid newspaper, everywhere else in USA its tabloid early evening newsprograms. Yes most of it is completely made up, but so's most of what passes for entertainment news-and you might find even 'real' news is kind of made up as well from some lobbyist or pressure group, or is just some snuff movie type horror story of some disaster that's happened somewhere.

There's no way Simon would have stood idly by as that country hack cruised on to the finals. no way but oh well and about x-factor, is anyone excited for that show? Agt, the voice, american idol...now poop factor...there is not enough liquor in the world -__-
