It seems like when any American Idol news comes out nowadays, it's to say that someone was dropped by their record label. This post isn't any different. Danny Gokey, best known for doing a terrible version of "Dream On" and exploiting his dead wife while on Idol, was dropped by record label RCA Nashville. The official statement that is that the two agreed to part ways, but since no one agrees to leave a paying record deal, it's fairly obvious that Danny was dropped. After Idol ended, Danny didn't immediately get a record deal to make the R&B music he wanted to make, so he thought country fans would be stupid enough to buy music from him (even though he wasn't a country artist). We have to give credit to the country fans - even they didn't buy it (and country music fans will buy anything!) So now that we'll never have to hear from Danny Gokey ever again, would you play his exit music please, Keyboard Cat?

Another one bites the dust. Remember what a teary-eyed Pauler said about Danny "You're gonna be singing in packed arenas" I guess she meant the tour because after that he was doing the Indian casino tour to half filled rooms of drunks.

Idol has only been on for like ten seasons so you have to give these music execs a break when they don't realize these 3rd, 4th, 5th place finishers are not gonna sell CDs.
Most 2nd, 1st place finishers aren't either but they will figure that out in year 2025.
