It is. Piers has officially left the show to do his CNN show full-time. Howie Mandell is still the 3rd judge.
From the article:
Quote : Howard Stern has signed a deal to join the judging panel of NBC's America's Got Talent in 2012. "I'm going to be Piers [Morgan] on steroids," Stern said in the announcement, referring to former lead judge Piers Morgan. "I'm going to go there as a serious judge.

I'd be surprised if he even makes it to the first show. I'd be doubly surprised if he makes it past the first half of his first season, and I love Howard Stern.
He's a comedian. An insult comedian. I can't believe anybody takes him seriously.

Actually, if you listened to Howard Stern, you would know he plans on taking this seriously. Howard is the best interviewer in media. I now plan to watch AGT. I have had no interest in past.

I loooo-hahahahh-ve this.This is the first panel of judges I haven't hated.
Hate almost everyone on X-factor and tolerate Simon - mostly fast forward through everything but performances though
Hate all the judges on SYTYCD except Adam Shankman usually fast forward
Hate Randy Jackson, slightly hate Jennifer Lopex and tolerate Steve Tyler - FForward
but I will watch everything the dream team of Howard - Osborne and Howard have to say...

Howard Stern has supported VFTW in the past, and now he'll be doing it on another level: as a judge on America's Got Talent. With Howie Mandel and Sharon Osbourne on the judging panel with Howard, the crazies will be running the asylum. But not so fast - Howard tells Rolling Stone he's going to be a serious judge and that he won't led the goofy people through. We don't believe that for a second. So next summer we'll see what exactly Howard Stern as a judge means. It'll probably be pretty awesome.
