Is Nicki Minaj Prepping To Become an American Idol Judge?

Nicki MinajNicki Minaj is one of the names being tossed around as a possible American Idol judge, and the fact that she recently cancelled some of her tour dates has added fuel to the speculative fire. She is going to be starting her fall tour later than anticipated, but she tweeted that her fans will be happy when they find out the reason why. Could Nicki be one of the new Idol judges?

VFTW fully supports this idea - we love Nicki and her craziness and she would make a perfect addition to Mariah Carey on the judging panel. This is one amazing way to help turn the show around in the right direction. So what are you waiting for, Idol producers? Sign Nicki now, give her as much money as she wants, and keep finding entertaining judges like her for the judges' panel!

UPDATE: On 8/20, US Weekly is confirming that Nicki is indeed becoming an American Idol judge. They seem 100% sure, so hopefully they're right. Let's hold tight for the official announcement (hopefully with a picture as hilarious as Mariah's).

Is keeping a diva like Mariah Carey alongside this crazy wackadoodle (I mean this in a positive light) a good idea at all? Well, at least it'll keep the show entertaining, but I'm guessing she will turn out to be just another of Nigel's puppets for whoever is TCO... Ugh.

If N.M. joins the panel, it will become "Hip Hop Idol". A year ago, there was fear that it was going to become Country Idol. This year it was mostly a contest to see who was the best at singing songs from the 70's and 80's, or Randy J's Glory Days Revue.


I would only see any interest in this if Nikki wears what she does in some of her performances.


One thing for sure is that the "old Idol" is having it's last rites.

I don't think Mariah will allow it. She wants to be the only diva on the panel.

She couldn't hack having to compete with a young ho with pumped up boobs because that who she wants to be. I don't see the appeal of Nicki at all. She can't last long--remember Lil' Kim??

Nicki does not suffer fools well and she's not afraid to speak her mind. She gives interviews where she talks about how bad some of the songs on her first albums were right down to the arrangement and her own performance. I'd watch Idol with Nicki as a judge. Not that I'm not going to watch for butterfly Hello Kitty rainbow rants, but NM could really get me to sit and watch.
