"And I'm proud to be an American / Where at least I know I'm free." -- Is that as opposed to being Canadian, where you're tortured to death for speaking your mind? This was the song of the Reagan '84 campaign and it was played ad nauseum during the Gulf War. A patritoic song should conjure up feelings about why I love America--this does the exact opposite.
