The performance David stole this week was Chris Cornell's version of "Billie Jean."

It doesn't really bother me that he does this (he actually sounded better than Cornell. Cornell's sounded like shit.)

What bothers me is that the bird brained judges praise his 'originality.'

So... has the clock started ticking until TMZ steals this bit of info with out giving Dave credit? I give those fuck-tards 5 hours. What do you say Harvey??

Um, not to defend Combover Cook or anything, but Ryan said right before the song that David was performing Chris Cornell's version of "Billie Jean."

Chris Cornell sounds better on the recorded version of this song. It's actually pretty good. David C. sounded *just like him.* Didn't this happen with Blake Lewis and the 311 cover of "Lovesong," and probably more than that too? It's like the judges don't listen to alternative rock at all.

Happened more with Daughtry and Live's version of "I Walk The Line."

I have to wonder if the judges really listen to anything besides Mariah, Whitty Huton, Celine, and Barely Manenough.

There shouldn't even be the slightest bit of controversy. Ryan said it was Chris Cornell's version. The whole point of American Idol is the contestants sing cover songs -- so if David Cook "stole" Cornell's song, everyone is "stealing" someone else's song.

The issue is that he was praised for his originality when it wasn't original.

Exactly, it doesn't matter that Ryan said it was Chris Cornell's version or not. The judges treat him like the second coming of Christ or some kind of genius and it's tiring already.

That he covered that song is not the problem, since Ryan mentioned it. But:

1. Some on the VFTW forum called it even before song choices were leaked; so predictable.

2. He sang it note for note and the judges criticized other contestants for this; instead they pimped David C. to heaven since they had no clue what the original cover was like.
