I would LOVE to have that dude around! I still remember his little "Simon" sign and his explanation to Randy and Paula that Simon is known throughout the world, that people everywhere speak of Simon, Simon is the greatest, etc. I wish I could get that whole rambling paean to Simon on a t-shirt.

Zerho, I think the top 2 have always been one guy and one girl (the only exception to the 1 guy 1 girl ratio I can think of is Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken[insert Clay Aiken joke here]). That sequence would have the top 3 being all guys which would be extremely unlikely. By the way kids, here's another good American Idol article http://jviz.blogspot.com/2008/04/young-stars.html

I really believe the reason why AI's ratings have gone down a bit, is that people know that they can watch the snippets of the show they want to see the next day on youtube or some site on the internet, and they can get right to what they want to see, and not have to sit through boring stuff (like Ryan Seacrest taking calls from fans and having them ask Simon what his favorite brand of laundry detergent is). Having said that, there is no doubt the Sanjaya silliness, did stir up controversey and raise ratings. So, well, whatever...that's my two cents. There are more lovely American Idol articles at http://jviz.blogspot.com for who's interested.

I'm not surprising at all. That was just Jerry's Kids or a PBS telethon, except with singing and Robin Williams sans Ritalin.
