" I am sure there were better entries than this schlock" I actually wasted about 20 minutes of my life listening to the top 20 and voting on them. It's an experience I've been trying to forget. They made you listen to the first 15 or 17 seconds before you could skip ahead. I remember hating all the songs except 2 that were marginally tolerable. I'm assuming none of those made it into the 10 contestants got to choose from. What I'd like to know is how those 20 crappy songs made the top 20 in the first place. (Yeah, I know, it's rigged!) But to answer your question, of the 20 I heard, most were even worse that that scholock, believe it or not.

It was a great VFTW moment, though, digging Bryan Adams out of his crypt!

1) The cover looks incredibly rushed.

2) The song sucks and is wrong for David. Then again, it's the coronation song, so what else is new?

The Finale song sounded like an afterthought. It wasn't as contrived or sappy as the last few years, or so I thought. I could be wrong.

To further torture us, AI made us listen to not just one bad 'finale' schlock song, but three. Gaspy must have had a hard on listening to those shmaltzy songs they had to choose from the 'Top 10'. Poor David Cook had to actually sing two, including the obligatory rainbows, lollipops, this is my (embarassing) moment winning song.

In the past there was only one song. Both finalists sang it and the winner sang it again on finale night. This year, TPTB picked the winning song, then the 2 David's got to choose which song they wanted out of the remaining top 10 (I think) to sing on Tuesday night. That's why when Simon commented to DC about his choice not being suitable for the winning song, Paula yelled at him that it wasn't the winning song! *** sorry -- that was a response to Moxie ****
