By far one of the best singers to ever appear on Idol. Not very marketable at all, though. Of course, she lost to Jordin and Blake, so it's not like the "marketable" contestants did much better. Melinda is a niche performer. She'll probably never have huge chart success, but she'll have a solid career with the backing of a loyal gospel and R&;B crowd. And signing with an indie label was a good move. It will likely give her much more control over the direction of her music, and she'll be less likely to be dropped when her album is not a mega-platinum chartbuster. I wish her the best. She always seemed very humble and sweet, and she sings better than anyone else from the last few seasons. Also, she kinda looks like Shrek. Has anyone else noticed that before? No? Just me?

I always enjoyed listening to this gal. She struck me as being genuinly sweet and humble. Too classy for jerks like Freemantle &; thier ilk. I hope she does well with the Indie label.

Scott, I couldn't quite put my finger on who she looked like or didn't want to admit it because she was soo sweet. She was one of those toothache sweets (right on the verge of annoying). This is good news her signing with the Indie label for the reasons you stated. I would buy her album.

I have no sympathy for her. Her "sweetness" seemed to be an act. She's a good singer, but I bet she's also a raging bitch behind closed doors. You saw how she looked at Jorbacca when she was butchering the finale song, didn't you?

I don't know her personally, so I couldn't really say. I will say that it's very tough to give anyone who's been on Idol the benefit of the doubt, though. They all seem to be complete dicks off camera. But seriously, I would have probably been giving Jordin a look like that during her finale song too if I hadn't been covering my ears and howling in pain.

She was probably relieved she didn't have to sing that piece of shit song. Come on Dave, you and everybody here knows "This Is My Now" sucks the big one. Could you really imagine Melinda would be happy singing that dreck? Besides, I don't blame her for giving that look to Jordin.

Entertainment Weekly reports that AI season 6 alum Melinda Doolittle has finally signed a record deal. Melinda signed with indie label Hi Fi Recordings. Her record is slated to drop this fall. Sure, Melinda is a good singer, but does anyone really care? I mean, she's already had 3 successful movies with that donkey... what took her so long to make an album? Was it the expensive photochopping for the album cover to give her a neck?
