David Archuleta Quits Music to Become a Mormon Missionary

David ArchuletaDavid Archuleta is now saying that he is now leaving the music industry to become a full-time Mormon missionary for two years. According to Yahoo! Music, David made this announcement at a concert in Salt Lake City. We're sure this has nothing to do with David's album sales drying up and the fact that no one's buying his music anymore. We admit, we'll miss the little bugger and his asexual ways. He's a nice enough kid and at least he know his place in the music industry (ahem, Carly Smithson, we're looking at you). So we wish him luck with converting people or whatever he's going to do now.

Because Scotty is a minor, his Idol winning contract has to be approved by a judge and now it's public record. MJ's Big Blog has the details: Scotty is set to earn $250,000 for winning and recording his first album. He'll also make a bit more for licensing his image for products, roaylties for his music, and for going on tour. Lauren Alaina is making $87,500 (but it doubles if she records an album). This sounds low, and it's even funnier when you look at what some of the other minors made for being finalists on Idol. Jordin Sparks and David Archuleta made $360,000 after their first albums. So Scotty took a pay cut of over $100,000. Guess it pays to let a stupid hick win since he doesn't know any better. Now it makes even more sense why the final 2 ended up being these two.

David Archuleta Dropped from Jive Records

David Archuleta was dropped from Jive Records, as noticed by MJ's Big Blog due to a tweet from his former manager (he was dropped from his management group too). Well, Gaspy;s last record kind of blew and it wasn't selling, so this isn't a shock. He's a nice enough kid though so we hope something works out for him. And we hope this encourages him to understand that coming out of the closet isn't a bad thing.

David Archuleta performs his new single, Elevator, on The Wendy Williams Show. It's pretty much a VFTW song that makes little to no sense. Wendy then brags that David has 400,000 Twitter followers. Too bad his latest album is only projected to sell 25,000 copies its first week. Ouch. Gaspy mistakes Steven Tyler for a female in the video... which is probably the best compliment Steven will get all year being that people rarely mistake him for a human being.
