TopIdol says that the Idol crew went to Danny's megachurch, Faith Builders International, to film a package for the top 12, where Danny preached. Not more about his dead wife is it? Probably. MJ's Big Blog had a copy of this above video up and we couldn't help but share it here. It seems like one of those bad late night infomercials that try to hypnotize you. LOOK NO FURTHER! LOOK NO FURTHER! LOOK NO FURTHER!

Cult leader, we mean church leader Jeff Pruitt is probably hoping for another Rolex and Escalade out of this deal. Or is he aspiring to bigger and better things? Like his own private island? The group seems super fishy (like they care more about money than actually preaching Christianity) and it seems they'll be using Danny as their cash cow for the next few months.

So you know how Idol is asking Ricky Braddy's fansite, the Braddy Bunch, to disappear because it gives him an unfair advantage? Well apparently, hosting a charity event under your name does not give you the same unfair publicity. TopIdol found that Danny Gokey's name appears on a flyer for a dance club charity event in Milwaukee for his Sophia's Heart Foundation. While we're not sure if Danny will be there (knowing Idol's hypocrisy this year, they'll probably fly him out there and film it for footage for the top 12), how is it that he's allowed to put his name on events and publicize them while Ricky's fans can't start a website? The rules should apply to everyone or no one. Good for the charity for trying to raise money, but bad for Idol for harrassing some contestants while letting others do whatever they want.

The church that Danny Gokey attends, Faith Builders International Ministries, seems to be an interesting place. TopIdol posted an article based around testimony from a former member who outlines some shady behavior at the church. It's an interesting read. Among other things cited, the former member alleges that the lead pastor Jeff Pruitt drives an Escalade that he guilted the church into paid for, that the church is close to a cult in their opinion, and that Danny was a smug jerk to the other musicians. The article does say that Danny's wife, Sophie, was a really nice person though. So check it out, read up, and form your own opinions if you'd like.
