Tyler Grady Hawks Used Cars

Tyler Grady, one of the first semifinalists voted off of American Idol 9, is now being featured in a local car commerical. See, kids. This is what happens when you try out for Idol. You don't get a career in music, you're lucky if a local business wants to use you in an ad. It's just not worth it. We're anxiously awaiting Lee DeWyze's similar car commercial to come out soon.

Well that was one great results show. It was a double VFTW Victory! Tim Urban and Haeley Vaughn, our 2 picks, were both safe. And going home were some of the early favorites on the show: Ashley Rodriguez, Tyler Grady, and Janell Wheeler. Also Joe Munoz went home, but no one knew who he was, so no one cared. Poor kid. Keep on voting for Tim and Haeley and let's get them into the top 12 and then on the tour. Thanks to everyone for voting their hearts out for Tim and Haeley. Next week, we have to vote twice as hard since people will be pissed that they survived.

We're also looking to hopefully go live this weekend with our site improvements that should really help with the site crashes. Cross your fingers for us. We'll keep you updated on that. We've been working on it for a while but want to make sure it's just right. Sorry for tonight's downtime, and thanks to everyone who joined us on Twitter and Facebook.

The American Idol contestants are allowed to use Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace this year as Idol finally comes into the 21st century and embraces social networking. Of course, the results are homogonized and bland due to Idol's tight grasp. VFTW reader Mikey sent us an interesting e-mail comparing the times that the various contestants post on their Twitter. For example, on February 18th, all of the contestants posted between 6:48 PM and 7:11 PM. The pattern continues each day. All of the contestants post within the same half hour window. This tells us that the contestants are either forced to tweet at the same time each day, or more likely, a production assistant or someone is required to update the contestant Twitters with random stuff. How non interesting.

TheTVAddict.com also anaylzed the contestants' social media to see who is the most popular. Not surprisingly, Andrew Garcia is in the #1 spot. Rounding out the top 5 are John Park, Tyler Grady, Tim Urban, and Aaron Kelly. The least friended contestant is Michelle Delamor, so we'll probably be saying goodbye to her on Thursday. These stats only take into account Idol fans that use social media, but it's probably a good thing to take into account.

There's a lot of buzz going around that American Idol desperately wants a girl to win this season. And who could blame them after the tweentards and fat housewives have completely taken over this show, turning the past two seasons into a massive sausage fest. And if they truly do want a girl to win, they've cleared the path by casting the ugliest group of male contestants we've ever seen on this show, and that's saying a lot. Read on to meet this motley crew but be forewarned...you may not want to do this on a full stomach.
