You know you're weird when rooming with Crystal Bowersox, who looks like she hasn't had a bath in 6 months and has a family of squirrels living in her hair, is a better option than living with the freakiness that is Siobhan Magnus. From an American Idol exclusive...

American Idol contestants all live in apartments with each other once they start performing live, and we seemed to touch a soft spot when we asked 23-year-old Hollywood native Didi Benami about her current living situation.

“Um, I don’t think I’m supposed to talk about that,” the blond said nervously, at the American Idol Top 12 party March 11 in West Hollywood.

“Well, I was living with Siobhan [Magnus] but — yeah,” Didi said, adding, “She’s sweet, too, by the way.” Then after fumbling around for words, she revealed she’s moving in with another popular favorite, 24-year-old Crystal Bowersox.

What bizarre things are being done by Siobhan to make Didi Benami, who's surely no picnic to live with either, choose the smelly over the weird? What would a roomie have to do to you to make Pigpen Smellysox, err, Crystal the better option to live with?

The new issue of Star Magazine, March 8 out today, has an article about Didi Benami's connection to Jason Reeves. Jason is the songwriter who worked with Kara to pen "Terrified", the song Didi chose during Hollywood week. VFTW first picked up on the connection thanks to Didi's MySpace blog. Now Star Magazine is spreading the word about the connection. There's also a brief blurb on Star's website. Is this enough to get Didi kicked off the show? Of course not, she's just using networking like anyone else in LA would. But the fact that she isn't talking about it, the fact that she pretends she's a waitress and not a singer, and the fact that she deleted that blog does seem shady. Just be honest, Didi. No one would care if you were.

Didi Benami's performance of "Terrified" on the February 9th episode of American Idol may be gaining her some fans, but there's something she left out. The song "Terrified" is written by Kara DioGuardi (which Didi mentioned) and Jason Reeves. Jason Reeves is a songwriter who has worked with Colbie Caillat, Demi Lovato, and Katharine McPhee. On Didi's MySpace, she mentions that she has worked with Jason before, stating, "Special Thanks to Jason Reeves for being a magical genius collaborator. I look forward to seeing you again soon...and keep the magic flowing...."

So as much as Idol wants to portray Didi as a random waitress with a dead friend who decided to try out for Idol, she's actually a singer in Los Angeles with connections to songwriters. She hasn't exactly worked with mega stars, but she's clearly a lot more connected than the other contestants. That's a little different than the show's spinning it.

Vered "Didi" Benami, one of the newest additions to the top 24 spoiled list, is 23 years old and from Los Angeles. She used to work as a cage fighting hostess and recently posed in a bikini calendar for charity. After Didi's friend Rebecca was killed in 2005, Didi decided not to take life for granted and moved to LA to pursue a singing career. Hopefully she doesn't share this sob story on Idol, because we've had enough sob stories this year.
