Fox made us all yawn today when it announced that American Idol season 10's three judge panel would be made up Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, and Steven Tyler... something we knew months ago. At least Idol producers realized that casting off dead weight Ellen DeGeneres and criminally obnoxious Kara DioGuardi were good ideas. But keeping Randy Jackson? And filling the other 2 seats with someone like Jennifer Lopez, who will try way too hard to be nice, and Steven Tyler, who will be hard to stomach watching in HD? Those weren't great calls and we predict the show will suffer accordingly. Both judges have said they want to be nice to the contestants. But we'll see how the judging panel works out in January. VFTW was one of the only websites saying how terrible Ellen DeGeneres would be before her short stint on the show, so you can bet our predictions on this crew will be equally as accurate.
You know all the stories that spread around about Jennifer Lopez losing her chance to be an Idol judge because she's an insufferable bitch? Well, Senior Execs at American Idol (sic. Nigel Lythgoe) are claiming that these stories are being planted in the media by those who have a grudge with the show and wish to sabotage it. While one doesn't have to have a grudge to know Jennifer Lopez is a massive diva, we wonder if these stories are being planted by a new rival of the show. Perhaps someone who will be competing against it in the near future. Perhaps an Englishman with large manboobs who has his own karaoke contest show coming up!
While the new judges are unlikely to bring any spark to the show, seeing Nigel and Simon scratching each other's eyes out as they try to sabotage the other's show is bound to be entertainment enough!
So, who do you think is trying to sabotage American Idol?
Well, it looks like the judging panel's complete. After hearing Randy Jackson would be back and Steven Tyler signed his deal, it looks like Jennifer Lopez will fill the third judge's seat for a cool $12 million a year. Of course we're disappointed, but all is not lost. Apparently the diva rumors about Jennifer are true. Sources say her negotiations almost broke down a few times because she wanted $15 million and guaranteed movie and TV roles. So will she bitch it up for us and entertain? We're not holding our breath. Jennifer's also the reason the announcement hasn't been made yet- she wanted the new judges' panel to be announced along with her new single in mid-September. Hopefully the song is called "I'm Not Really An Idol Judge - It's Really Whitney Houston (And She's Back on the Crack)."
We've known it for a while, but now it's official. In a statement from the show, it was announced that Kara DioGuardi is now officially no longer an America Idol judge. On her way out, Kara said, "I felt like I won the lottery when I joined `American Idol' two years ago, but I feel like now is the best time to leave `Idol,'" This translates to, "The show forced me to leave because I was terrible for their ratings." Hopefully the next cut will be eliminating Kara's songwriting "talents" from the winners' albums. We won't miss you one bit, Open Toes. Good riddance! Now let's hope her replacement doesn't suck even more than she did.
