Speaking of The Beatles, this list wouldn't be complete without mentioning "Come Together." Once it became a choice in season 7, the Idols couldn't keep the hands off of it. First Carly Smithson screeched it out, then Kris Allen did a more timid version, and then Crystal Bowersox carried it into season 9. Each year, the performance is one of the least memorable that each of the contestants pulls out, so why should we bother allowing them to keep singing this song?

While we're at it, let's just retire The Beatles on Idol. Period. It was a strange experiment but it's time to call it quits. And no Beatles performance will be as funny as Haeley Vaughn's "I Want To Hold Your Hand." Most of them are boring. So let's let the 2 dead Beatles rest in peace and stop destroying their music on Idol.

Ban This Song on American Idol: "Let It Be" by The Beatles

American Idol was granted the rights to have the contestants sing Beatles songs during season 7. The catalog will never be the same. "Let It Be" is one of the worst offenders, sung by Brooke White in season 7, Kris Allen for a charity single, and Katie Stevens in season 9. The song is so simple, anyone can sing it and make sound decent. But it's one of those lame ace-in-the-hole songs that people pull out attempting to prove they can sing. They rarely prove much of anything, but then the judges fall over themselves to praise the performance. People are tired of the overpraise, so let's just retire this one before it gets out of hand.

Few songs have been overdone on American Idol in recent years like Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing." Despite the fact that Kara DioGuardi can't tell recent Aerosmith songs from early Aerosmith songs, we're sure even Dogface wants this one banned. A string of horrible performances from season 2's Josh Gracin, season 4's Lindsay Cardinale, season 6's Antonella Barba, season 7's David Cook, season 8's Allison Iraheta, and season 9's Aaron Kelly should be enough reason to retire the song. But it will get even worse if Steven Tyler becomes an Idol judge. Just as contestants constantly picked Journey songs to appeal to Randy, the Aerosmith catalog will be butchered like no other to appeal to Steven Tyler. And this song really was never any good to begin with. So let's all agree- no one will miss a thing if this song is never sung again on Idol.

Ban This Song on American Idol: "Apologize" by One Republic

Ryan Tedder, the lead singer of One Republic, has contributed to the shittiness of American Idol in many ways. He writes horrible songs for people like Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Kelly Clarkson, and Adam Lambert that rival Kara DioGuardi's masterpieces of crap. But the one thing he did to actually mess up the performance shows was to release the song "Apologize" and then greenlight it for karaoke hell. First, David Archuleta performed a lame version of the song during season 7. Then Kris Allen performed a forgettable version durng season 8. Keeping the trend going, Tim Urban picked the song up and took a giant dump on it during season 9 in what is now a VFTW classic.

So after Tim's horrible falsetto notes, we know there's no more entertainment value left in the song. This means it should be retired and left to die. As for Ryan Tedder's songwriting career, please kill that too. Thanks.
