American Idol Top 4 Will Be Performing Duets

Posted by againstallodds on May 1st, 2009 at 8:00 AM

For "Rock week" (a broad theme) in the top 4, TopIdol has learned that the contestants will have solo performances and will also perform a duet. This is probably because the 4 judges don't know how to shut up and limit their opinions to 30 seconds. Hopefully we get a hilarious Adam Lambert-Danny Gokey duet where the 2 look like they want to push the other person off the stage. Train wreck potential is high this week (yay!)

Jamie Foxx is the Mentor for Rat Pack Week

Posted by againstallodds on April 28th, 2009 at 8:09 AM

MJ's Big Blog just posted that this week's mentor for Rat Pack week is Jamie Foxx. Yes, because when we think of the Rat Pack, Jamie Foxx comes to mind. Hopefully he'll sing his autotune masterpiece "Blame It on the Alcohol" on the results show and offend the judges. Also Jamie will hopefully coach Matt to break out his inner Worster and piss all over the stage with his vocals.

This is the most boring piece of shit song list ever attempted on Idol. Tonight will SUCK. Carrie from MJ's had this to say about Lil: "She started nice and soft…then she turned it gospelly and became shouty. Least favorite." Oh, we hope she lives up to sucking like that.

Top 7 Theme is "Songs of the Cinema"

Posted by thefunnystone on April 9th, 2009 at 5:50 AM

Fox sent out a press release saying that the top 7 theme is "Songs of the Cinema" with guest mentor Quentin Tarantino. We also get to suffer through Miley Cyrus singing "The Climb" on results night. Seriously, the goal this year must be to get the least talented guests so the Idols look better. Will we be spared the inevitable Whitney Houston "Bodyguard" soundtrack shlock from Lil Rounds? While we want to discourage her from picking something boring since she's the frontrunner as the next VFTW pick, we also know she clearly cannot hit the notes in those songs and will be referred to as a copycat again, making her even angrier than before. What should the Idols sing for movie week?

The Top 8 Theme is Songs From The Year You Were Born

Posted by thefunnystone on April 1st, 2009 at 11:48 AM

MJ's Big Blog has an interview up with Paula where she states that the top 8 theme is Songs From the Year You Were Born. It's going to be basically 80's night minus 1 (Allison). So what suggestions do we have for Megan, born in 1985, if she somehow defies all odds and makes it through?

Like a Virgin, Madonna
Material Girl, Madonna
Dress You Up In My Love, Madonna
Take on Me, A-Ha
Sugar Walls, Sheena Easton
Obsession, Animotion
Private Dancer, Tina Turner
Walking on Sunshine, Katrina and the Waves
Solid, Ashford and Simpson
California Girls, David Lee Roth

Don't play it safe, Megan. You see what that gets you. You have to come out and have fun. If you're even around. Even though everyone thinks you're going home tonight, we're holding out hope.
