Canadian Idol Updates

Pictured above: Montana Martin Iles at this year's auditions for Canadian Idol. Great shirt, Montana! For those of you who have never seen Canadian Idol, Montana is probably the most talented and most awesome person to come out of the show, and of course, she's a Worster. Find out more about her here and see one of her awesome performances here. We never get anything that cool on American Idol!

Vote for the Worst alum Tyler Mullendore is about to take his show on the road, literally, with the Alive in Cape Breton tour this fall. The tour will see Tyler and his band the LA Speedway traveling through Cape Breton from October 27th to November 30th. So if you're up in the area, make sure to check Tyler out and give him some VFTW love. To find out more about the dates and locations, click on the awesome tour poster to the left. Because if you don't go, you won't be able to tell your friends that you've seen 'im, buddy.

He's Seen'er, Buddy - Tyler Mullendore Loves VFTW

Way before the current Jaydee craze, VFTW tried to help Tyler Mullendore become the next Canadian Idol this season. And although he went home on a sad, sad day, Tyler wants to let VFTW know that he's seen'er, buddy and appreciates our support. We appreciate Tyler too, so we sent him a t-shirt. Special thanks to Buzz McAdam for making this picture happen. Stay tuned to VFTW for all things Tyler Mullendore, because we expect great things from him. And click on the picture to the left for a larger version.

VFTW's Tyler Mullendore will be playing in Cape Beton, Nova Scotia on Thursday, September 6th. Make sure to get out there and support our very first pick of the season by showing him some VFTW love. Click on the poster to the left for a bigger version with more info. Hope to see you there!

Naomi-Joy Joins Tyler as the VFTW Pick

After losing the wonderful Maud, VFTW has decided to throw our support to rocker-dominatrix chick Naomi-Joy Blackhall. We're open to changing our vote on Tuesday if one of the other females gives an amazing VFTW performance, but we've selected Naomi if everyone stays at the same talent level. Naomi is everything VFTW could ask for and she'll pair up well with our stoned male pick, Tyler. Welcome to the fold, Naomi, enjoy your stay!

Canadian Idol Producer Whines About Toronto Contestants

At least the American Idol producers never stooped this low. Sick of seeing contestants from Toronto eliminated in early rounds, Canadian Idol executive producer John Brunton released a bizzare statement in which he complains a lot that 3 Idol contestants from the Toronto area were eliminated this week, including Derek Hoffman (pictured). Brunton says, "no competitor from Toronto has made it to the Top 10 since Season One, four years ago, and that's pathetic." He then contradicts himself by saying this "isn't about regional voting," but "I hope everyone in [Toronto] does all that they can to support [the reamaining Toronto contestants] next week." So basically, Brunton wants Torontonians to vote for their own just because they live in the same town? Sounds exactly like regional voting to us, and it sounds incredibly idiotic. What's that a-boot?

Ritchea's Out, Scarlett's In on Canadian Idol

Ben Mulroney announced last week that someone in the top 22 had dropped out and that we'd find out who this week. Well, we found out. Ritchea Hodge dropped out for "personal reasons" (hopefully not the same ones as Mario Vazquez, who allegedly rubbed his junk on a Fremantle employee). Replacing her is not the girl with the barfing mom, it's Scarlett Burke. Who was she? She was the girl who had the Lance Bass lookalike creepily kissing her neck in the Toronto rounds. The only good thing about this announcement? Scarlett seems to be obvious cannon fodder that might help VFTW's precious Montana Martin Iles stick around a while longer.

Farley Flex Says "No Sanjayas"

In preparation for the premiere of Canadian Idol next week, VFTW caught this gem in the Edmonton Sun. CI judge Farley Flex smartly blames the judges for Sanjaya's presence in the top 24 to begin with (correct), but then says that Canadian Idol has too much integrity to put a Sanjaya through to their top 22. Farley, buddy, 75% of the singers who make the top 10 on Canadian Idol every year can't even sing half as well as Sanjaya. Remember Brandon Jones? Rex Goudie? Corpsey LeBland? Suzi Rawn? Nuff said. VFTW is fairly confident we'll easily be able to pick a Sanjaya out of the bunch within a few weeks.
